Why DeftGauge

A cleaner way to check your gear.

Most of these utilities live on sites that bury a tiny tool under pop-ups and clutter. DeftGauge does the opposite — fast, focused tools that keep the test front and center and respect your attention.

Runs in your browser

Every tool runs locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded, tracked or stored — close the tab and it's gone.

Guided, not guesswork

Each tool tells you exactly what to look for, so you can tell a real fault from normal behavior.

Built for every device

Keyboard, mouse, touch and TV-remote friendly, with true full-screen and a wake lock so the screen never sleeps mid-test.

Everything the incumbents bury, in plain sight.

No cookie wall before you start. Nothing covering the thing you're testing. Just the tools — measured, accurate and explained.

Tool-first, no clutter

The test stays front and center — never behind a pop-up or full-screen interstitial.

Accurate measurement

Refresh rate uses median frame timing and reconciles the native screen API.

Real & CSS resolution

We show both the logical and true physical resolution, and explain the gap.

Detect → repair

The dead-pixel tool doesn't just find stuck pixels, it tries to fix them.

Frequently asked questions

Is DeftGauge free to use?

Yes. Every tool is completely free, with no account and no sign-up. The tools run entirely in your browser.

Does my data leave my device?

No. All tests run locally using standard web APIs. DeftGauge never uploads screenshots, measurements or device details to a server.

Will these tools work on my phone or TV?

Yes. DeftGauge is built for touch and TV remotes as well as mouse and keyboard. Most tools enter full-screen and keep the display awake while you test.

Can a website really fix a stuck pixel?

Sometimes. Rapidly cycling colors over a stuck pixel can coax it back to life. It works best on stuck (lit) pixels rather than truly dead (black) ones — the Dead Pixel Test includes a built-in repair mode to try.

How accurate is the refresh rate test?

Very close, typically within ±1 Hz. We measure the median time between rendered frames and compare it against your browser's reported refresh rate. Running it for 30 seconds improves precision.

Give your device a once-over.

It takes about a minute, and you might be surprised what you find.
